Thanks to the agreement with the Department of Food Production of the Czech Ministry of Agriculture, the Training and Consulting Center was established at FFBT UCT Prague in 1997 to support implementation of the critical control points system in food production. The Center is run by the employees of the Department of Food Preservation. In the first few years, basic HACCP courses were organized regularly and later additional special courses were added, such as a preparatory course for HACCP manager certification and trainings for HACCP internal auditors; in addition, courses on maintaining the critical points are held regularly. Since the legal obligation to implement HACCP was imposed on public catering establishments, the Center has been cooperating with the Advisory Council of the Chief Public Health Officer of the Czech Republic and providing trainings to workers in catering and gastronomy. Furthermore, the Department employees serve on committees and other bodies of certification institutions (e.g. Czech Society for Quality). The Center also cooperates with the Federation of the Food and Drink Industries of the Czech Republic (FFDI) in the field of education and in consultancy on food quality and safety.
